As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, Rappi, the app created in Latin America and the leader of Delivery in Mexico, is developing several projects in partnership with different food banks in the country, in order to contribute to the fight against hunger in the country.

Therefore, in partnership with Chez Cocó, a traditional local restaurant in Celaya, where it began operations a few weeks ago, Rappi launched an initiative to donate food to vulnerable communities in the city. The application invited its users to be part of the dynamic, for each dish purchased from Chez Coco, Rappi donated an additional one.

In the first days of the campaign, a number of 200 dishes were achieved, and on March 30, the delivery app fulfilled its commitment to donate healthy food to vulnerable communities through the Nutrition and Life Foundation.

In order to deliver the food to the Food Bank, the efforts of the “Zero Hunger” program were activated in the entity with an innovative dynamic in which the user of the app was a key part of achieving greater impact.

The food prepared in the restaurant was transferred to the Food Bank, from there it was distributed to communities belonging to the settlements of Presa Blanca, San Isidro Espinosa and San Isidro de la Concepción.

In Guanajuato, according to INEGI, more than 24% of the population lives in conditions of food insecurity, that is, at least 1,500,000 Guanajuatans cannot meet their daily food needs and suffer from hunger.

Diego Martínez, Manager of Institutional Relations at Alimento Para Todos, said that “The alliance between Rappi and Alimento Para Todos I.A.P. has set out to contribute to the eradication of hunger, through a commitment that involves the rescue of food and the development of campaigns that will increase the food quality of Mexicans. As is the case here in Celaya, the key is to be able to contribute to social development programs, promoting the distribution and above all the improvement of the food quality of vulnerable communities in Guanajuato.”

It should be remembered that Food for All is a food bank that has been working for 26 years to rescue and redistribute food, advocating for the right to decent food through interventions and development opportunities for people in poverty.

The mechanism was born as a response to a need of the neglected society, with the objectives of reducing food waste, as well as promoting food security conditions in particularly vulnerable communities in the country.

Our main objective is for private companies and civil society organizations to strengthen our efforts to continue fighting food insecurity in the country,” said Mauricio Ucrós, Director of Public Relations at Rappi.
