Yesterday evening, Kattinka Hosszú won her second gold medal in the Rio Games with a powerful performance in her second swimming event – the 100m backstroke. She already holds the world record in the event, set last year when she won world championship gold.

United World Wrestling’s Executive Board appointed a Special Commission to review doping cases related to the Russian wrestlers.

The Chef de Mission of the Australian Olympic Team, Kitty Chiller, has backed the IOC decision not to ban Russian athletes from the RIO Games saying “ the IOC has set down a very strict criteria and the Russians still need to clear the high hurdles to be able to participate  in RIO”. 

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has called on organisers of the RIO Games to mobilise their security force now following a number of violent robberies on athletes in the Games’ city. 

On Friday June 17, the IAAF Council will make a transformative decision for our global athletics community when the Council meets to decide whether the Russian Athletics Federation will be reinstated to allow participation in the Rio Games.
