And eight elegant teams fight it out for the last gymnastics podium places in the rhythmic all-around group final. Twelve medals will be awarded in the final rounds of seven sports.

(ATR) Cuba meets South Korea for what may be the last match in Olympic baseball, while a slate of boxers narrowed down over the last two weeks finally fight for their first golds. Gold medals are on the line in all 15 sports on today's schedule, when 32 Olympic champions will be named.

(ATR) Defending men's basketball champions Argentina try to block the U.S. "Redeem Team" from a chance at the gold medal round when they meet the 2004 bronze medalists in semifinals today. Modern pentathlon, BMX and beach volleyball wrap up today on a schedule of 21 medals and 18 sports.

(ATR) The U.S. meets a strong Brazil team in a sequel to their 2004 women's football final. The U.S. left Athens with gold, but this year they face a Brazil that outpaced them at the 2007 World Cup, led by star forward Marta. A total of 23 golds will be awarded today during a schedule of 20 sports.

(ATR) BMX cyclists roll into their first Olympics today, taekwondo day one culminates in two medal ceremonies and the top-ranked synchronized swimming duet from Russia faces 11 other teams in the free routine final. Eleven golds will be awarded today and 20 sports contested.
August 15 -- Sports Day
(ATR) Jamaicans Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell plus Tyson Gay of the U.S. headline the first day of athletics competition in three different 100m heats. Two golds will be awarded in the Bird's Nest today, plus 16 other golds during a program of 27 sports.
