Ten-man Atlético Madrid were left to rue an Antoine Griezmann missed penalty in the UEFA Champions League group stage at Celtic Park on Wednesday as a decisive Álvaro Morata goal secured the 2-2 draw against Celtic.

Morata pulled Atlético Madrid level after 53 minutes when he steered home a header. The striker finished high into the right corner after combining with Marcos Llorente.

Antoine Griezmann also netted for the visitors, with Kyogo Furuhashi and Luis Palma on target for the home team.

Griezmann will regret missing from the penalty spot for Atlético. He saw his lower right effort saved by Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart with his team trailing 1-0 in the 24th minute.

Rodrigo De Paul dealt Atlético Madrid a blow when he was dismissed for two bookings with eight minutes left.

Furuhashi punished Atlético early on by scoring in the fourth minute. The striker finished low into the left corner after combining with midfielder Matt O'Riley. But that lead did not last as Griezmann hauled the sides level in the 25th minute.

Palma, finding the net via a deflection, then edged the home side back in front three minutes later, with striker Daizen Maeda this time the provider. But any hopes of the home team clinching victory were dashed as Morata netted a leveller after 53 minutes.
