Violent day in Morelos: seven people were killed in less than 48 hours

The head of one of the victims was abandoned in Tlaquiltenango, where a drug message was also found

Seven people were killed during a single weekend in different parts of Morelos, an entity that is experiencing a security crisis due to the struggles for territory by organized crime groups.

From Friday 22 to Sunday, April 24, five men, a woman and a minor were gunned down in various municipalities of the entity; one of which occurred in the Tlahuapan neighborhood of Jiutepec, where a couple was attacked.

Both the man and his partner, identified as 40-year-old Erika Astudillo Adame, were shot while driving along Calle 5 de Mayo and Paseo de Cuauhnáhuac, which resulted in the death of the woman, who was left lying there after being gunned down.

According to witnesses who witnessed the attack, the couple were on their way to a tamale stand around 6:50pm on Saturday 23rd, as they were preparing to buy their dinner when armed men descended from a vehicle to shoot at both victims of the attack.

For his part, the subject suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and back, so the man identified as Eduardo “N” was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated; while his partner lost his life there due to a gunshot wound to the skull.

In another unrelated event, on Saturday morning, two dead bodies were found inside a Nissan Kicks van, which had gunshot wounds and were next to a burned vehicle.

The bodies were found on a dirt road known as El Amate in the El Roble neighborhood of the town of Tilzapotla, in Puente de Ixtla, Morelos. According to information disseminated by local media, one of the men found was about 22 years old,

Another victim was recognized by witnesses such as Edson, a boy known to locals who was 13 years old, who had been kidnapped days before he was found dead.

Elements of the Mexican Army and the local police launched an operation on the spot to try to find the culprits, after which they were only able to collect information about the alleged aggressors, who had fled aboard a Ford van.

Likewise, in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood in the municipality of Zacatepec, two people were gunned down inside a home, into which gunmen reportedly entered to shoot repeatedly at Lennin and Alberto, identified victims who were around 35 years old.

On the other hand, a taxi driver from Zacatepec was found in the Olvera neighborhood of El Higuerón, located in Cocula; the man's body was inside his Nissan Versa vehicle on a dirt road.

According to police reports, the body and face of the taxi driver was disfigured because he had received stones; the victim was identified as 30-year-old Cristian Cedillo, who was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).

In the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, a man's head was found on the Rivera del Canal of the Alfredo V. Bonfil colony, where it was deposited with a message threatening El Mundo, who was accused of selling glass in the entity.
