The rains in the country continue to create disasters and casualties. This Sunday, April 24, the emergency authorities of Cundinamarca reported that four people were dragged through a ravine in the municipality of Arbeláez.
According to Captain Álvaro Farfan, who is a departmental delegate of the department's firefighters, he said that apparently the four people were dragged after the ravine overflowed.
“Due to a sudden increase, it causes the affectation of four people, who were swept away by the current. Three older adults and one minor,” he said.
For its part, the local mayor's office reported the emergency on its social networks what happened in that area of the country.
For her part, Mayor Karina Garzón said that the increase in rainfall has affected almost the entire region and there are at least 15 serious effects.
Mayor Karina Garzón pointed out that due to the increased rainfall “we are going through a strong winter wave. We have more than 15 problems in the municipality and we ask you to please inform you of any situation that may arise so that we can immediately come to provide solutions to the extent possible.
Heavy downpours in Cundinamarca and other regions of Colombia are already wreaking serious havoc. In the municipality of Viotá, the authorities had to evacuate the inhabitants of this area.
Due to the emergency, the governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, traveled to the municipality where he held the Departmental Risk Council, in the village of Liberia Baja, where two people disappeared after an avalanche took a house.
He also added that “for the safety of both relief personnel and families, this instruction has been given to those who are no longer at home, we are assuming the value of the rent, of hotel nights in different places here in the municipality or settling in families, with the commitment of having a property that belongs to the Government for the immediate housing relocation project”.
The governor assured that they will supply the inhabitants of the municipality of Viotá with drinking water, as well as psychosocial support for those affected.
“We have brought water storage tanks because three sandwiches left with the landslides, so that we can have supply not only here but in several villages of the municipality, we have brought yellow machinery and also psychosocial support for the people who have been affected.”
On the other hand, Manuela Marín, a member of the Comunes party, asked for help for people affected by winter in Viotá.
“Viotá needs our solidarity! Non-perishable food, blankets, mats, medicines, dog and cat food, among others, are required. You can deliver these grants at the La Roja Cultural House on Calle 41 No. 20-09 from 12 m. to 8 p.m.”, trino.
