FC Emmen, the Peruvian team Miguel Araujo, last week secured its promotion to the First Division of Dutch football, and this last Friday he completed one more meeting for the Eerste Divisie. Thus, the national team beat Roda Kerkrade 2-0 and was one step away from securing the Dutch Second Division championship.
Precisely with this result, FC Emmen scored 80 points and maintains their distance of six units with their top pursuer, Volendam, with two dates left before the end of the tournament, they only need one win on the following date against FC Eindhoven to win the title of the Eerste Divisie (Second Division).
Therefore, Infobae called Emmen FC president Ronald Lubbers to talk to us about the promotion of his team and the importance of Miguel Araujo in the Dutch institution.
“Almost every game was a fight. We didn't start that well without Miguel, but we also had to get used to the fact that our opponents were getting used to it to get a good result. At the beginning of the season we were the favorites for the title. After the bad start, we were more armed to get the results we want. Step by step we achieved our goal of returning to the highest league in the Netherlands. The last thing we want this season is to be champions. There are two games left and we are 6 points ahead,” Ronald Lubbers told Infobae exclusively.
At the same time, the boss of Emmen FC spoke about the importance of the Peruvian national team's defense in his team. “Miguel is very important to us. On the pitch and also before and after our matches. The example was the video you saw before the match against FC Dordrecht. Most matches Miguel is already doing it in the locker room. But this match we were able to reach our goal and the pressure was quite high. The small and old Dordrecht stadium was filled with 70% of FC Emmen fans,” he told the media.
One of the observations that makes us see, Ronald Lubber is the impressive numbers that Emmen FC had when the Peruvian played in the starting eleven. “With Miguel as a centre-back on the right back (along with left-back centre-back Jeroen Veldmate) we only had 23 goals against. The number 2 of the FC Volendam table has 48 goals against,” he added.
MIGUEL ARAUJO MUST STAY AT EMMEN FC
When asked, Ronald Lubbers about the future of Miguel Araujo at Emmen FC, the boss of the Dutch cast said the following: “I think Miguel has to stay with us next season (at least until January 2023). This year we have a World Cup during November and December. For every player who wants to be on a national team at the World Cup, it is important to play matches before November. We are back at the highest level and we will play against Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord, etc. Miguel Araujo will have a good preparation for the World Cup if he stays with us.”, he sentenced Infobae.
