FC Emmen, the Peruvian team Miguel Araujo, secured their promotion to the First Division of Dutch football last week, and this last Friday they completed one more match for the Eerste Divisie. Thus, the national team beat Roda Kerkrade 2-0 and was one step away from securing the Dutch Second Division championship.
Precisely with this result, FC Emmen scored 80 points and maintains their distance of six units with their top pursuer, Volendam, with two dates left before the end of the tournament, they only need one win on the following date against FC Eindhoven to win the title of the Eerste Divisie (Second Division).
For this reason, Infobae called Miguel Araujo to learn about his feelings for achieving promotion with Emmen FC to the Eredivisie.
“Without a doubt, it is easy for any footballer to descend, adding the desire to stay because of the affection and great respect for the fans, the coaching staff and especially Ronald, who very much apart from his position I consider him a great friend. All this made my experience in the second division better than I expected,” Miguel Araujo began by telling Infobae exclusively.
He then commented that the key to the goal of promotion with Emmen FC was due to collective work. “For me it was the group's decision in which together we climbed step by step with only one goal, which was to climb to the First Division,” he added
In turn, Miguel Araujo was asked about the differences he found between the First and Second Division of the Netherlands. “I think that in the First Division the game requires a lot more than in the Second Division, since competition generates certain advantages with teams Jong Psv, Jong Ajax and they don't struggle to rise, while in Primera all teams want to compete in the Eredivise.
However, we asked him about the decision of Ronald Lubbers, president of Emmen, who, when things were not favorable for the team, decided to keep Dick Lukkien as coach. “Europe has a different vision than it does in South America, and added to that, the trust that Ronald placed in Dick was key, because it did not waver and the group supported him with results,” Miguel Araujo told Infobae exclusively.
Finally, we asked Miguel Araujo about the viral that circulated giving a harangue in English before the match to Dordrecht, which would end up being favorable by 1-0. “The message to me comes from the heart of my blood, I don't speak 100% English; however, when I motivate my teammates, I transmit that strength that I think is needed to start the game and be the leader in quotes, since you can't proclaim yourself,” he said.
