Jorge Araujo made his debut on the Universitario de Deportes bench with a draw. 'Coco' and company could not at home against Sport Boys and equalized 1-1 for matchday 11 of Liga 1. The coach 'crema' stated that the result did not seem very fair to him because of the process of the engagement.
“I think the match had a good level on our part, especially in the first half. There were many goal situations, but we missed them. It is an issue that we need to improve. The boys did everything to make this party round, we thought the result was a little unfair because of how the goal came (from Sport Boys),” the Peruvian strategist declared at a press conference.
Also, Araujo sent a message thinking about what will come of the championship. “We have to look ahead, turn today's page quickly, sustain what we have been doing and we are able to improve the level.”
With this tie, Universitario is still five points behind the leader, Sport Huancayo. The club 'merengue' is eighth with 17 units and has only seven games left, since on matchday 17 it will rest.
Jorge Araujo is confident that his team can score the most points and keep the Apertura. “In the club we can't lower our arms. This ends when the numbers don't allow it. As long as we have a chance to play and add up to three, we are not going to give up.”
