The death of Freddy Rincón continues to be a matter of investigation for the authorities. As the days passed, new details have been released of the hours prior to the traffic accident that ended the life of the former footballer of the Colombian national team on April 13 in Cali (Valle del Cauca).
In previous days, the Attorney General's Office confirmed that the 'colossus of Bonaventura' was the one who drove the carb that ended hitting an articulate of the MÍO mass transit system, in the early morning of Monday, April 11. “This conclusion was supported by forensics in Legal Medicine, in technical studies and corroborated by witnesses inside the vehicle, as well as security cameras in the area,” the investigating body explained.
This version caused doubts among many Colombians, who wondered how it was possible for Rincón to die as the pilot while the co-driver, who was the one who took the greatest impact of the bus, did survive. Therefore, forensic doctor Jorge Mancera recently explained what were the injuries that triggered in the death of the Colombian football idol:
“The main mechanism of trauma that explains Freddy Rincón's death is acceleration and deceleration. Not necessarily the trauma as such” and explained what were the two effects that determined his death: “It was the brain that turned inside and those sharp turns are what caused the injuries. The name of the lesions are subdural hemorrhage and diffuse axonal damage.”

In the last few hours, Noticias RCN learned new findings around the last hours of the former Colombian player. The media outlet revealed a series of videos and photographs showing Rincón during a party at a nightclub in the capital of Vallecaucana. As previously evidenced, Freddy wore a white t-shirt and a black cap, the same as he wore when was at the house of salsa singer Harold Saa.
The material showed that the 'colossus' was in the night establishment sharing with two women and two men while they were splitting a birthday cake. However, one of the most curious photographs was the one in which he appears in the company of former footballer Jairo 'El Tigre' Castillo.
According to the aforementioned media outlet, the members of the group leave the disco around 3:00 in the morning on Monday, April 11 to a bakery. That would be where Rincón was recorded getting into the vehicle, proof that he was also in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office to rule that the former footballer was behind the wheel when he produced the collision.
Another important finding in the investigation would be that Rincón does not wear a seat belt correctly, a situation that could have caused the severity of the injuries. Paredes, the previously referenced medical examiner, supported the theory that the 'colossus' drove the vehicle because of the conditions of his body.
“From the biodynamics of the trauma, you can tell who the driver was and who was the co-driver,” adding that “if he [Rincón] had been the co-pilot, he must have had a very strong trauma to the right side of the body.”
A young woman identified by the Prosecutor's Office as Manuela was in the co-pilot's position, and suffered some injuries. Meanwhile, the three passengers in the rear were unharmed.
