Verónica Delgadillo, senator for Jalisco of the Citizen Movement (MC), asked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) to decree a nationwide gender alert.
Faced with the disappearance of women in the state of Nuevo León and the discovery of the body of young Debanhi Susana Escobar, the legislator of the Orange Movement declared, through her official Twitter account, that a strategy against national gender-based violence is urgently needed.
In the message, Senator Emecista reiterated to the federal president that it is necessary to decree gender alert throughout the country, since, she said, the secretariats of state, the judiciary and the legislative branch must focus on this issue.
“Next week, on the day of session, I am going to propose it once again from the Senate, Mexico's highest public rostrum,” he announced.
It should be recalled that after more than 13 days of searching, last Thursday night, 21 April, the Attorney General's Office of Nuevo León reported on the discovery of a body in a cistern near the site where the young law student was last seen, Debanhi Susana Escobar Bazaldúa, in the municipality of Escobedo.
However, it was until Friday afternoon that the State Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the body found corresponds to Debanhi Escobar, the cause of his death being a deep contusion of the skull.
Like Verónica Delgadillo, the news caused the indignation of thousands of people who, through social networks and in demonstration, demanded that the authorities clarify the case.
Through his Twitter account, the director of the Morena Regeneration Movement (Morena), Alejandro Rojas Díaz Durán, asked Mario Delegado, leader of the cherry party, and Citlalli Hernández, secretary general, to go to Nuevo León to support and solidarity with the causes of all women.
In the publication, the Morenista criticized the fact that his party continues not to pay attention to the violence that Mexican women suffer every day.
In response, Morenist Senator Martha Lucía Mícher Camarena demanded that Díaz Durán be informed, reminding her that the Equality Commission in the Upper House approved a point of agreement to stop violence. “And what are you doing? ”, he questioned him.
To which Alejandro Rojas replied: “Malú, one point of agreement is no longer enough. We are the ruling party and I think we can do much more. You don't think so? I do. That is why I am working on a comprehensive proposal to present it. I'm going to invite you; your opinion is important. I greet you with respect.”
For his part, the deputy of the National Regeneration Movement, Mauricio Cantú, declared on his social network that it is urgent to remove the attorney general of Nuevo León, Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero, the head of the Specialized Prosecutor for Missing Persons, Rodolfo Salinas de la Pena, and Luis Enrique Orozco, deputy public prosecutor, for their “incompetence” in the case of Debanhi Susana Escobar.
