A 19-year-old boy stabbed in the back a female police officer who was directing traffic in San Martín de Porres. His purpose was to steal his regulation weapon, but he was stopped by passers-by.

He was identified as Diego Sandy Macuyama and managed to be held by a mob. He was about to be lynched when he was rescued by two police officers.

The aggrieved officer was the second NPP noncommissioned officer, Mayra Villarreal Tasaico. He was performing acceleration service when the subject got off a public transport car with a knife.

Around 10:10 a.m., Macuyama went straight to the police and stabbed her three times and tried to snatch her regulation weapon from her. It all happened at the junction of the Panamericana Norte with Trapiche Avenue.

“He's been attacked by this guy. With a knife he gave him approximately eight twinges in the back and one at the height of his neck,” an officer told La República.

The people nearby shouted, they barely warned of what happened. He was told to stop, but the assailant refused and continued to threaten the officer. When he tried to keep stabbing her, he was surrounded and beaten by passers-by. In this way, they were able to reduce it and almost lynched it.

After two minutes, NCOs Giovanni Lara Flores and Branny Ortega Tinedo arrived, and practically saved his life. He was reduced and kept on the ground, while they waited for the patrolman to arrive to take him to the Sergio Bernales hospital.

At that moment one of the troops rebuked him for the reason for attacking the officer, to which he replied: “I wanted to steal his firearm.”

He will be reported for attempted murder with subsequent serious stab injuries. During the police interrogation, the detainee assured that his plan was to commit a robbery in a market, together with an accomplice.

Petty Officer Villarreal was transferred, by NCO Jesús Alberto Alvarado Montañez, to the Jesús del Norte clinic. She was treated by doctor Fernando Sihuas Meza, who diagnosed her with multiple trauma, open chest trauma and severe anaemia due to the stab wounds she suffered.

MININTER IS PRONOUNCED

The Ministry of the Interior reported on what happened and condemned the act of violence against non-commissioned officer Mayra Villarreal. They also called on the judicial authorities to act swiftly in the process to achieve a fair sanction against the aggressor.

The holder of the portfolio, Alfonso Chávarry, went to the Jesús del Norte clinic, where she had been treated and is currently hospitalized.

“We are not going to neglect it, it is our obligation as an institution to be aware of its recovery. We are looking for their medicines and the expenses of the clinic,” said the headline as he left the place.

Through the ministry's social networks, it was revealed that the second-rate NCO had risen out of danger. The minister toured the place and met Villarreal's relatives. In addition, he rejected the attitude of people who continually assault police officers and did not respect the law.

“The doctors have shown me the CT scan and there are no complications with the lung or other organs. We appreciate the care you have had at this hospital. We are aware of their situation 24 hours a day,” said the minister.
