Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Head of Government of Mexico City (CDMX), was once again the target of acid criticism of the netizens.
This, after the president announced that she “asked for the day” to accompany Mara Lezama, candidate for the governorship of Quintana Roo for the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), ahead of the elections on 5 June.
This statement generated disagreement among some Twitter users who considered it unnecessary to request a day off to focus their efforts on proselytism, rather than the problems that afflict the city that leads.
In this way, his Twitter post was filled with comments with such claims: And when will you have a day to solve or direct the problems of the city because it is a garbage dump that you are leaving this cabr*n,” one person wrote.
Lack of water in certain areas, broken roads, crime and violence against women were just some of the problems mentioned in the more than a thousand comments the post got and 800 retweets.
However, it should be noted that a large number of them referred to the collapse of Line 12 that left 26 people dead on May 3, 2021; a tragedy of which the capital's Government has made little effort almost a year after the event.
Simply, only on April 12 of this year, Sheinbaum Pardo acknowledged that rehabilitation work has progressed slowly because each of the clearings in the elevated sections of the so-called golden line has particular characteristics.
In this vein, the rain of criticism was triggered against him, which - in the great majority - again emphasized that the incident had been the result of “negligence on their part”.
“Stop vacationing and get to work. The city is upside down and you still don't answer for line 12″, “Better ask for a license and answer for metro line 12. You are directly responsible!” , “While on tour, think about how you are going to do the anniversary ceremony of your negligence,” other netizens wrote.
On the other hand - although not for the most part - there were also complaints because the operation would be traveling to Quintana Roo on the same date when the iconic palm tree will be removed from the Glorieta de la Palma.
“Is it more important to campaign than the 'tribute to the palm'?” , “And then why so much mitote from La Palma?” , “Bring a palm tree from there, since he let the one of Reforma die”, “Palm trees die and the train lines fall down”, claimed the twitteros.
According to the president herself, La Palma will be withdrawn due to a plague that affected a long-lived species of more than 100 years old, which, even with efforts environmental, could not be recovered.
“At the La Palma roundabout we were working to see if the palm tree could be saved, unfortunately it cannot be saved and we are going to do several issues with the palm tree,” said Sheinbaum.
