This Sunday the Registrar's Office reported that the atypical mayoral elections in Achi (Bolívar) and Susa (Cundinamarca) are being conducted with total normality and under biosecurity measures. And he pointed out that they are guaranteeing the health of voters, juries and other participants.
“In total, for the two electoral competitions, 23,089 citizens are entitled to exercise their right to vote. In the case of Achi, 17,710 citizens (9902 men and 7808 women) can do so; while in Susa 5379 people (2,789 men and 2,590 women) can pay for it,” said the entity.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Registrar's Office, in the two municipalities, this is the second time that atypical democratic days have been held to elect mayor. In Achi, the first time was in 1994 and in Susa, in 2004.
He stressed that, for this electoral process, the National Civil Status Registry installed a total of 58 voting stations (47 in Achi and 11 in Susa), distributed in 22 positions (21 in Achi and 1 in Susa).
It should be recalled that in the municipality of Achí the election day will be held on the basis of Decree 092 of March 14, 2022, issued by the Governor of Bolívar, Vicente Antonio Blel, following the decision of the Administrative Court of this department, which ordered the elections to be repeated in this town, due to the fact that the destruction of electoral material in the past elections.
This decision of the court was communicated to the National Civil Registry, the National Electoral Council and the governor of Bolívar and determined the nullity of Juan Carlos Becerra Guzmán as mayor of Achi for the period 2020 - 2023, after the application of one of the candidates of this municipality in the Caribbean was accepted colombian.
In the case of the municipality of Susa, Cundinamarca, these elections will be held in compliance with Decree 050 of February 28, 2022, issued by the Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, after the recall process was held against the mayor of this municipality, Ximena Ballesteros.

“Citizens are reminded that during election day it is mandatory to follow established biosecurity measures such as wearing a mask, physical distancing, hand disinfection and leaving the voting station once democratic right is exercised,” the entity stressed.
