The Attorney General's Office of the State of Hidalgo (PGJH) obtained links to the trial against José Artemio Maldonado Mejía, the Michoacano and/or the Rabias, for their alleged responsibility for crimes of kidnapping and murder, after the leader of Pueblos Unidos escaped from the Tula Prison.
According to the ministerial unit, the first hearing of the Michoacano had had a constitutional deadline and during that time he took the opportunity to plan his escape, but then another arrest warrant was issued to him and he is now facing two trials in the entity.
Maldonado Mejía was arrested four months after his escape was completed with eight more of his criminal group, on December 1, 2021. Federal and Mexico City agents arrested him on April 18 in the Doctores neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office.
The first indictment against him was filed at the hearing of November 26 last year, but he benefited from the duplication of 144 hours. According to investigations, this crime was perpetrated against a person on December 14, 2017, while the victim was driving a van on the Tula - Tepetitlán highway.
