Disney+ continues to be renewed with original quality content designed for children and teenagers. On this occasion, it will add to its catalog, from May 11, 2022, The Crusade, an epic adventure that follows eight teenagers who leave reality to enter a journey to Everealm and complete a series of crusades to save the Kingdom of Evil.
From the award-winning filmmakers behind The Lord of the Rings, this great competition that combines reality and fantasy takes place in an incredible fictional world created especially for this series. It is arguably an innovative immersive series in which eight teenagers, who call themselves The Paladins, leave reality to embark on a journey into the fantastic world of Everealm, where they must save the Kingdom by helping to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
The series will feature eight episodes in which you'll see these heroes immersed in a fantasy world come true; with her own castle, royalty and all sorts of mystical creatures, as well as a sorceress whose sole purpose is to destroy everything and take power.
Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky, executive producers of the series, said: “We are doing something magical that no one at this level has ever done before. We are taking real people into a completely fantastic world, conceived and built by incredible artists in all areas. It's an immersive journey with real-life heroes embodied by these eight normal teenagers who transform right before our eyes. It's a very new and interesting way to tell a story.”
On the other hand, Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, also producers of the series, said: “It is a totally disruptive and innovative genre in which we take a group of teenagers to a real competition, but in a completely fantasy world, built on scripted mythology and with components of mystery and adventure contributed by actors, which makes it a totally immersive experience.”
Finally, Michael Williams and Rob Eric, executive producers for Scout Productions, commented: “We focus especially on the aesthetics of the show, from production design to costumes, so that everything feels authentic. We wanted both our and our Champions and our audience to feel immersed in the epic world we created.”
The Crusade is produced by Court Five, New Media Collective and Scout Production Inc. For Court Five, the executive producers are Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings). Bertram van Munster, Elise Doganieri and Mark Dziak (The Amazing Race) are executive producers for New Media Collective, while executive production by Scout Production Inc. is led by Rob Eric, Michael Williams and David Collins (Queer Eye).
