All for Lucy, the new Prime Video fiction that stands out among imminent premieres, takes as its starting point the classic American television show I Love Lucy (I Love Lucy) that Lucille Ball starred in between 1951 and 1957. In this Latin American adaptation, Lucy lives in this century and fervently desires to be in love but, on the other hand, she does not want to give up one iota of her individuality.
Natalia Tellez, the Mexican actress we met in After You, will give life to this new Lucy, who will arrive on the platform on May 20. In the role of Ricky will be Daniel Tovar (Mirreyes vs Godinez), while Andrés Andy Zuno (To hell with the handsome) and Daniel Haddad (The Search) will play Esteban and Federico, the couple of friends of the adorable Lucy and Ricky.
Everything by Lucy was developed and produced by Endemol Shine Boomdog who, together with Elefantec Global, acquired the rights to the original series in order to recreate it as an aggiornada comedy. Pepe Bastón, one of the founders of Elefantec Global, commented on the project: “I Love Lucy was the first successful TV show that led a Latino actor to be part of the main cast,” he said, referring to Desi Arnaz. “We are now excited to produce our modern version with a 100% Latino cast and crew. Our writers have done an excellent job adapting this American classic for the global Latino audience, while maintaining its joyful essence of family entertainment.”
The executive producer of Everything for Lucy is Leonardo Zimbrón, who worked on another series of the platform, Get on my bike, the biopic of the band Menudo. As showrunner, the series features Joe Rendon (Those Green Eyes), who also directed the episodes.
“I Love Lucy is the foundation of every comedy show ever made, and we are honored to reimagine it with its fundamental stories and characters,” Zimbrón said. “We took this classic series and transformed it into a romantic comedy for the 21st century. It was a difficult and beautiful task; we worked with fantastic talent in front of and behind the scenes. Our cast made the characters their own, so we have a very current relationship between Lucy and Ricardo, and the stories are in every sense life today”, concluded the director.
