The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, led last Friday, April 22, the Unified Command Post (PMU) 128, with the participation of more than 340 representatives of the sector and delivered three messages on the dynamics of vaccination in the country.
First, he emphasized the transition scheme that the country will have when integrating the National Covid-19 Vaccination Plan into the regular EPI. “This includes important challenges, because we increased the number of vaccination posts,” said the minister.
For this reason, he recommended that as much information as possible should be disseminated, so that citizens know where they can be vaccinated. “This transition scheme is very relevant because it will lead to more agile and standardized processes,” said the official.
A second issue addressed by the minister had to do with the territorial takeover that will take place in the different departments of the country, with the aim of clarifying what this new scheme has to do with and “that we will start next Wednesday with the city of Bogotá and Cundinamarca”. He also stressed that this process will begin on May 2 at the national level with the territorial takeovers and definitive closure of the massive phase of the covid-19 Vaccination Plan.
Finally, he indicated that between April 23 and 30 will be the vaccination week of the Americas and highlighted that in virtually all departments of Colombia there is a lag in the vaccination of children and older adults in regular vaccination programs.
