Atlético Nacional celebrated its 75th anniversary, an event to which the most remembered stars of the Antiquia team arrived. However, this tribute was not well received by Carlos Antonio Vélez, as the journalist questioned the absence of a historical reference for this club, because he was allegedly not invited despite having made important achievements in the purslane cradle. This is Juan José Peláez, the Antioquian coach who obtained great returns in the nineties.

His annoyance took place in the Win Sports broadcast of the tie between Atlético Nacional and Once Caldas at Atanasio Girardot Stadium. In the midst of his football analysis, Velez took the opportunity to highlight the excellent event held at the concentration hotel, where 'the purslage' exhibited trophies, coats, photographs and important memories of his historic football team. Francisco 'Pacho' Maturana, Jaime Arango, Juan Carlos Osorio, René Higuita and Hernán 'El Bolillo' Gomez, were the main ones honored.

However, not everything was praise on the part of the communicator, as he complained about the absence of Juan José Peláez, who also works as a sports commentator and has been his stage partner. Carlos Antonio Vélez highlighted the titles that 'El Cabezón' won with Nacional and the trajectory that this performance in Antioquia football, as it should be noted that 'El Rey de Copas' was his first club as helmsman.

In his blunt reproach, the Caldensian communicator said:

Meanwhile, the sports commentator pounced with a series of arguments against the Paisa leadership, remembering each of Peláez's titles with the eleventh medellin and considering their position as a controversial and sinful event.

The account of the coach's record was evident, because in his airy pronouncement, Carlos Antonio Vélez pointed out: “The man won a title in 1994 and was a finalist for Libertadores in 1995; he reached an international final. For me, not inviting a person of this kind seems to me besides an error of protocol, a fault that is very serious, it is almost like a mortal sin”.

So far there is no official pronouncement by Atlético Nacional about what happened, however, on social networks they have also rejected the club's position and questioned Peláez's absence from the prestigious event, in the same way, the coach did not comment, although he was in the middle of the broadcast and listened attentively to the emphatic commentary.

A native of Jericho, Antioquia, he did not have a promotion as a footballer despite always being attentive to Antioquia football. However, in 1988 he arrived in the Colombia Juvenile team to unleash his strategy, a fact that was seen with good eyes by Atlético Nacional in 1994, giving him confidence and adding his services as a coach. Here, he won the national title that same year, winning the Copa Libertadores de América and epically reaching the final, which unfortunately he would lose to Gremio de Porto Alegre, however, in 1997 he would win the crown as champion of the Inter-American Cup with the greens.

In 2004 he reached Nacional again and won two runners-up, leaving a stable base for the purslaga title in 2005. As helmsman he has led important teams and was part of the Colombian coaching staff at the World Cup in France 1998.
