Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insisted on Saturday that providing his country's troops with the necessary weapons is the highest priority of the State, while thanking the support received by his partners, noting that the invasion is only the beginning and that Russia wants to invade other countries.

“As every morning, as every day, as every evening, today we pay the utmost attention to equipping our soldiers with all the weaponry they need,” Zelensky, quoted by the Ukrinform agency, said last night in his daily video message.

He added that “this is task number one” for the State.

“And I thank all our partners who have finally listened to us, who give us what we ask for, because we know for sure that with these weapons we can save the lives of thousands of people and we can show the occupiers that the day is coming when they will be forced to leave Ukraine,” he said.

On the other hand, he noted that “the Ukrainian armed forces continue to contain attacks by Russian invaders in the east and south” of the country.

“Address Izyum, Donbas, the Azov region, Mariupol, the Kherson region - these are the places where the fate of this war and the future of our state are decided,” he said.

He also warned that the invasion of Ukraine is just the beginning and that Russia wants to invade other countries.

He referred to reports by Russia that the task now is to establish control over southern Ukraine and access to the border with Moldova, where Moscow claims that the rights of Russian speakers are being violated.

“With reference to the Russian Army, news spread that its task is now supposedly to establish control over southern Ukraine and reach the border with Moldova. And allegedly there, in Moldova, the rights of Russian speakers are violated,” explained the Ukrainian president in reference to the words of Rustam Minnekaev, commander of the Central District of the Army.

“This only confirms what I have already said more than once: the Russian invasion of Ukraine is only the beginning and then they want to invade other countries as well,” he said.

Zelensky replied that it is Russian territory that “should take care of the rights of Russian speakers”, since in Russia there is “no freedom of speech” or “freedom of choice”. “There is simply no right to dissent,” he said, adding that in the country “poverty prospers” and “human life is worthless.”

“All nations who, like us, believe in the victory of life over death, must fight with us. They have to help us, because we are the first on this path. And who is next?” , the Ukrainian president asked himself.

Zelensky also explained that in places like Sloviansk and Kramatorsk or in Popasna and Kharkiv, located in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, “the occupiers are trying to achieve a primitive goal”, which is to “kill as much as possible and destroy everything they can”.

On the other hand, he thanked the United Kingdom for its decision to return to the British embassy in Kiev. “The United Kingdom became the twenty-first country to return a diplomatic mission to our capital,” he celebrated.
