Three people, including a minor, were caught for faking the kidnapping of a man who would demand money from his parents

The Attorney General's Office reported on an unusual case in which a man allegedly faked his kidnapping to demand money from his parents.

“The Prosecutor's Office obtained insurance measure in a prison center against a man who pretended to be a victim of kidnapping to demand money from his parents. The deception allegedly involved a minor and another person, who were also prosecuted,” announced the entity through its social networks.

According to the information provided by the investigating body, at the request of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, a guarantee control judge imposed an assurance measure in a prison center against two of those involved in this act, one of them the alleged abductor and another who was the alleged captor.

For these facts, the prosecutor charged those accused of the crimes of attempted aggravated extortion and the use of minors for the commission of crimes. Likewise, a minor who participated in the alleged deception was sent to a specialized center where he was detained preventively.

The alleged kidnapping in Medellin

According to investigations carried out by the Attorney General's Office, the events were recorded on the morning of last Saturday, April 16, when a mother received the news that her son had allegedly been abducted. The announcement was made through several phone calls made to the woman.

Likewise, the alleged captors sent the mother several videos and images showing her son being beaten and receiving threats from two other people.

In the calls made to the woman, the sum of one million pesos was demanded from her in exchange for returning her son, money that was actually going to be given by the parents of the man who was apparently faking his abduction.

The authorities received information about the alleged abduction, so they mobilized to intervene and establish whether it was indeed a kidnapping or, on the contrary, there was a network with which parents were expected to rob.

According to what the criminals agreed with the victims, the exchange would take place that same Saturday night, for that reason, the parents already had ready the money that was required of them in exchange for their son's freedom.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the investigators established that, apparently, the alleged abductee contacted the adult and the minor to fake their retention and obtain the money from their parents.
