In the plenary of the Senate, the Congress of the Republic approved in the second debate the bill that seeks to make the speed limit in all cities in Colombia a maximum of 50 kilometers per hour, in order to guarantee the safety of Colombians, especially pedestrians, on all roads in the country.

This was announced to RCN Radio by Senator Roy Barreras, author of the initiative, who explained that the objective of the bill is to prevent drivers from driving more than 50 kilometers per hour in urban areas.

The initiative, which seeks to create a new road safety statute in Colombia, will also include stricter rules for the marking of the country's roads, as well as a section that avoids importing poor quality cars that affect the safety of Colombians, as Senator Roy Barreras told the broadcaster Bogota.
