After presenting before a guarantee judge the three men who staged an unusual robbery against the occupants of a private vehicle, on Calle 100 with Carrera 19, in the north of Bogotá, the Attorney General's Office announced that the three received an intramural security measure.

According to the prosecutor, Francisco León Vigoya Díaz, Diego Fernando Tocancipá Correa and Henry Giovanni León Hernández already had records for the crime of theft. On this occasion, they would have organized to pose as informal vendors who accidentally unaccommodated the mirror of their victim's vehicle.

Once the person lowered the glass to rearrange it, the alleged criminals began the struggle to strip the complainant of an expensive gold chain, valued at about twelve million pesos. Then, they crossed the road and got into a Chevrolet Spark vehicle with license plates ZYV978, which fled in the opposite direction.

The Prosecutor's Office charged them with the crimes of aggravated personal injury and qualified and aggravated theft, charges that none of the three men accepted.

On Thursday afternoon, a Twitter user identified as Jaime Ovalle shared on his profile the video of this cinematic theft. The citizen reported that “every day” thefts are committed at the traffic lights where the incident took place.

The recording, taken from a building, shows that several men intercept a black vehicle at the middle of the red light; before this, the driver starts to remove the criminals from the car, colliding with the back of the van in front of him.

In response to the video, several users mentioned the accounts of the Metropolitan Police and Mayor Claudia López as a sign of rejection of the robbery; and within minutes, the subjects were hit and captured.

The Police themselves announced on their Twitter account that the gray car where the robbers escaped was pursued by a patrol that intercepted it at 68th Avenue and 17th Street. In addition, in the triune the institution thanked the community for the support of the community that publicized the case on social networks.

The three subjects were arrested this Thursday, but the lack of a formal complaint to the Prosecutor's Office could cause the alleged criminals to be released in less than 72 hours, since the Colombian penal system cannot prosecute anyone just for a viral video.

After learning the video of this savage robbery, the desperation of cyberusers to avoid impunity was not long in coming. They found a way to find the alleged thieves on social networks, data with which they extracted their photographs and made them viral, so that the victims could report other thefts of which they could be victims.

Finally, after acknowledging herself in the distressing scene, the victim of the events in the video was encouraged to report. With this, it was possible to proceed with the assurance measure. In spite of that, we must remember that if there are other victims of these people, they should approach reporting as soon as possible.

By having more than one case and exposing a potential danger to society, the penal system is less likely to grant defendants benefits such as house imprisonment.
