Six Colombian green businesses are finalists in the Latin America Verde awards

The Ministry of Environment announced that six sustainable projects are vying for recognition at one of the most prestigious environmental festivals in the world, along with projects from Ibero-America

This Saturday, April 23, the Colombian Ministry of Environment reported that six green businesses, verified by the national government, were finalists in the Latinoamérica Verde sustainability awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the world that will define the winners this Sunday at the Knight Concert Hall in Miami (USA). USA).

The six national nominees, who will compete for prestigious international recognition, are: Kachachúa; Bottles of Love; Tierra Santa Biological Station; 5th SaRoco; Replasander S.A.S and Bucarretes Construction System, which will compete in categories such as: Biodiversity/ Water; Economy/Sustainable Production; Waste/Reusable Products; Waste/Recycling; Biodiversity/Fauna.

“We are happy for our green businesses, that their initiatives for nature-based solutions, good environmental practices and sustainability are also recognized internationally represents a triumph from now on. We will continue to work together to strengthen green businesses, from the Minambiente they have all the support to continue the task of producing while preserving and producing,” said Minister Carlos Eduardo Correa.

Latinoamérica Verde is a sustainability festival that highlights and recognizes the most outstanding social and environmental projects in Ibero-America, in which 700 initiatives participated this year, of which 77 were chosen as finalists by Latin America, 16 of them from Colombia representing various sectors, six of which are green businesses that from the regions are committed to sustainable production and waste use.

For his part, the head of the Ambiente portfolio traveled to Miami to accompany these initiatives, which will have the opportunity to be one of the three chosen, in each category, by an international jury that will evaluate their impact and importance within the sector, while assuring that they will continue to “work together to strengthen the green businesses, from the Minambiente they have all the support”.

Among the nominees for Colombia is 5th SaRoco, located in the municipality of Silvania, Cundinamarca, from where it produces goods and/or services from natural resources, sustainable agrosystem sector, agrotourism subsector. This project is a finalist in the Biodiversity/Water category.

Likewise, Kachachúa located in Ibague, Tolima, which is a project that produces 100% organic food, using ancestral cultivation techniques, competes in the Economy/Sustainable Production category. For its part, Replasander S.A.S., also located in Girón (Santander), is an initiative of industrial eco-products, waste use and valuation sector, subsector for the use of inorganic waste that disputes for the award in the category Waste /Reusable Products.

The Bucarretes Construction System, in Girón, Santander, is classified as an ideal green business and is a finalist in the Economy/Economy category, in which the concept of circular economy is applied by using wood waste disposed as reel covers and stowage boards for walls and floors of sustainable buildings. In addition, Botellas de Amor stands out, located in Rionegro, Antioquia, consolidated as a project of industrial eco-products, waste utilization sector, subsector utilization of inorganic waste, is a finalist in the Waste /Recycling category.

Finally, the Tierra Santa Biological Station, in Barranquilla, Atlántico, stands out, dedicated to the production of sustainable goods and services from natural resources, biocommerce sector, subsector products derived from wildlife, disputes the prize in the Biodiversity/Fauna category.
