Protests against the government in the context of the shutdown of carriers recorded multiple injuries and 6 deceased. Erwin Romero Corilloclla was one of them. Now, his family has denounced President Pedro Castillo and Prime Minister Aníbal Torres for the damage done to the boy in the police repression in Huancayo.
The young man, 27, partially lost his sight during the anti-government protests, due to the impact of a tear bomb shell in his eye. Therefore, members of the Executive Branch are being charged with the crime of attempted murder, serious injury and exposure to danger or abandonment of a person in danger, and against humanity.
The criminal complaint was formalized at the headquarters of the Public Ministry in Huancayo and also includes the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry; the police chief of Junín, Gregorio Villalón Trillo; and the major NPP of the Special Services Unit, Juan Carlos Romero Romero.
Diana Romero, sister of the victim, had already announced a few days ago that they were going to file the complaint against the senior officials. He said that his brother is engaged in ambulatory trade, so he had been protesting with other traders about the rise in prices of the basic basket products. In the midst of the repression, a can of tear gas had hit his head, according to Flor Corilloclla Lazo, mother of the injured Huanca York Times.
The young man ended up losing his eye, due to police repression in the protests in his region. The incident occurred during the demonstrations on 2 April, outside the Wanka Coliseum, where the meeting between ministers and leaders of the strikers was taking place. Agreements were sought to meet the population's demands on rising fertilizer and fuel prices, but there was also a concentration of people protesting against the Government.
This is the first and only criminal complaint against State officials for their alleged responsibility for violent acts during protests, in the stoppage of carriers. A total of about 28 people were injured and six people were killed.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE OPENED AN INVESTIGATION
The first days of the transport strike, three deaths were recorded in the demonstrations held in Junín, between March 28 and April 2. On this, the Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it will initiate an investigation to clarify the facts.
The first three deaths of unemployment occurred in the provinces of Jauja and Concepción. The people who marched demanded the price increase in various basic necessities for families and carriers. Since the confirmation of the deaths, the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry, said that they were not caused by clashes with the Peruvian National Police (PNP), but a team from the Public Prosecutor's Office will determine the circumstances in which these tragedies occurred.
Among the victims is a 13-year-old teenager, whose body was found on the banks of the Yacus River, at the height of the Bellavista area (Jauja). The hypothesis that has been used since the loss became known indicates that the teenager had fallen into the river in his attempt to escape from the police, which sought to control the protesters.
Candy Magaly Hinostroza de la Cruz is the second victim of the demonstrations in Junín. The teacher died after being run over by Hans Oré, at the height of the Las Balsas bridge, in Concepción.
The third victim is Jorge Maldonado, 82, who was unable to receive his haemodialysis treatment at the Essalud-Huancayo hospital.
