In the midst of the political race ahead of the May 29 presidential elections, the views of public figures and others involved in national politics about the candidates turn out to be controversial and criticized. However, many do not stop when it comes to their opinion on what they think is best for the country. In a recent interview with Semana magazine, Diana Osorio, wife of Mayor Daniel Quintero, confirmed her intention to vote for Gustavo Petro for president.

For several months there has been talk of the closeness that the first lady of Medellín could have with the Historical Pact, since she has been seen with Francia Márquez, Petro's vice-presidential formula, and with Verónica Alcocer, the candidate's wife. It was even rumored that she would top the list of the House of Representatives in Petro or that she would be his vice-presidential formula, which Osorio flatly denied.

In her dialogue with journalist Vicky Davila, Osorio pointed out that although neither her husband nor she has a close relationship with Gustavo Petro, they will vote for him on May 29:

Diana Osorio justified her support for the Historical Pact candidate by pointing out that the country needs change and even spoke about the controversial proposal of 'social forgiveness'. He acknowledged that it was a mistake that Gustavo Petro's brother's visit was made in the middle of the political campaign, but he also rescued that the idea had been taken out of context to harm the candidate.

The woman who is going to vote for Petro explained that for her it is necessary that a social pardon be given, but that it needs regulation and acceptance by society. But he stressed that he has not heard Gustavo Petro talk about penalty cuts as proposed by other sectors.

On the other hand, candidates such as Federico Gutiérrez and Sergio Fajardo were put in the same sack as the Antioquian Business Group, GEA, whom she referred to as the 'enemies' of Mayor Daniel Quintero and her. “They represent the same interests, what I would call a sad co-option of the public by the private sector in Medellín in recent years,” he said about what he called 'the GEA-FICO-Fajardism'.

On their opinion as presidential candidates, he noted that Gutiérrez's figures during his term in Medellin were not good and that he was not a good administrator; while he condemned Fajardo's “apathy” during the second presidential round in 2018.

He also spoke about the possibility of Daniel Quintero being a presidential candidate in 2026. She pointed out that, for this, they should end the Mayor's Office of Medellín with good figures and stressed that her husband does not enjoy being under the line of any politician, even if some of his critics link him to petrianism, so he would surely be an independent candidate.

Diana Osorio's controversial closeness to petrism in these elections began to be seen when she was part of the entourage that received Francia Márquez in that city, Gustavo Petro's vice-presidency formula.

Videos uploaded to social networks by followers of the leader of the Historical Pact show the accompaniment of the proselytizing event of the local first lady, who has been openly supporting this left-wing coalition. Verónica Alcocer, wife of the candidate and senator, was also there, as well as other women who work with that community.

After the criticism, in a dialogue with Blu Radio, Osorio said that “I have absolutely no disability and, of course, I am respectful of the institutions' processes and while I am in public spaces and events I don't say who I am going to vote for, but when I am in a private space, which has nothing to do with public administration, I can do it, it's absolutely legal.”
