This Saturday, the Colombian archery team played a great performance at the World Cup based in Antalya, Turkey, after winning a gold and silver medal.
The goalkeepers Sara López and Daniel Muñoz were crowned champions in the mixed compound arc mode. They beat 157-156 in the final the Slovenian pair of Toja Ellison and Aljaz Matija Brenk, confirming their international power in this category.
Along the way, Lopez and Muñoz had already surpassed Germany, China, Taipei and Croatia, which finished third in the competition and won bronze.
After a scandal 2021, with three gold medals at the World Cup in the discipline, in addition to the first place in the World Cup in the individual category, Lopez aims to reach the World Games at a good pace, which will be held this year in Birmingham, United States.
At that time, Sara told the organization of the event, “We had fun, but it was stressful because it was very even until the end. We wanted to show our level and that we can shoot. We both shot incredible. I am very happy that the medal went to Colombia.”
In the 2013 Youth World Cup, this risaralda athlete won gold in the one-arrow tiebreaker against Germany's Janine Meissener and that same year she won gold in the team arc category at the Senior World Cup in Turkey, along with Alejandra Usquiano and Aura Bravo.
In addition, in May 2015 Lopez broke the world record in the women's compound arc mode with 706 points, surpassing the world record of 704 points achieved by USA's Erika Jones at the World Cup in Poland in 2003.
The second podium of the tricolor team came thanks to Alejandra Usquiano, who won the silver medal in the women's individual category of the compound bow.
Usquiano defeated Estonia's Jaatma Lisell in the semifinals and lost in the final 147-145 to Britain's Ella Gibson.
Antioquia's goalkeeper Alejandra Usquiano is one of Colombia's most important archery representatives abroad. Some of his most memorable triumphs in this discipline have been the first place in the 2013 World Cup in Paris in the individual compound arc category and the silver medal in the same category at the third World Cup of the 2015 season, in Poland.
For her good performance at the 2012 National Games, where she won 7 gold medals, Usquiano was chosen by El Espectador and Movistar as one of the most outstanding athletes of 2013.
