The Mayor's Office of Cali announced that it is joining the Vaccination Week of the Americas, an initiative promoted by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) that aims to promote immunization throughout the region.
This strategy will be implemented in Cali from Saturday 23rd to April 30th and aims to reach all citizens but especially the most vulnerable age groups.
The Ministry of Public Health of Cali, in coordination with the ESCOs and EAPB of the city, are joining this great day, and, in order to achieve the objective, made available to Caleños and Caleñas the 21 biologicals of the Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI), in all the vaccinating IPS authorized.
It should be noted that not all points will have the availability of the vaccine against covid-19, bearing in mind that the integration process between the National Vaccination Plan and the EPI is being carried out gradually. The last phase will be implemented throughout the country from 2 May.
However, the municipal administration reported that it will keep open the four existing megacenters (Pascual Guerrero Stadium, 14 in Calima, 14 in Pasoancho and Unicentro Shopping Center) and the different posts that have been suitable for immunization against covid-19 since the immunization plan began in the capital of the Valley of Cauca.
The district administration assured that in this way it joins the call made on Friday by the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, who warned that practically throughout the country there is a lag in the regular vaccination schedules of children and older adults, due to the difficulties encountered in the first two years of the pandemic.
“We must take advantage of this week to relaunch all vaccination schemes and all mass vaccination again, in order to achieve coverage by the end of this year,” emphasized the Minister of Health.
