General Eduardo Zapateiro's Twitter criticism of presidential candidate Gustavo Petro generated enormous controversy amid election campaigns on some political fronts. Now, the active reserve of the public forces demonstrated its support for the general and rejected the comments made by some representatives of the Historical Pact.
A communiqué signed by 40 organizations and associations, including Acore, strongly condemned “the infamous attacks that end the lives of selfless soldiers and police every day” and rejected people who, according to them, take advantage of these situations for political ends and “generalize unfounded accusations against the high commanders” of the Army.
In the statement that was released to the public, they also highlighted their support for General Eduardo Zapateiro, commander of the National Army, to consider that he “defends the institutional honor and dignity” of members of the public forces.
