After the videos of a band of thieves taking advantage of the trancones on the busy Calle 100, near Carrera 19 Avenue, were released through social networks, which allowed the Bogotá Metropolitan Police to capture them, again, through these Internet media, they suffered another setback, as they leaked the photographs of their faces for the victims of their robberies to report them.
Precisely because of this robbery that they committed, according to the footage of the security cameras, on the borders between the towns of Chapinero and Usaquén, the authorities of the Colombian capital invited the victim to report what happened.
INFOBAE consulted with the Bogotá Police and they pointed out that at this time the criminals are being prosecuted and did not have their photographs. However, after the fact was known, the same networks began to circulate the records with the faces of these persons who could be released, according to the Colombian penal system, if there is no complaint within 72 hours.
On Thursday afternoon, a Twitter user shared on his profile the video of the case of theft in Bogotá and reported that “every day” thefts are committed at the traffic light that remains at this address. The recording, taken from a building, shows that several men intercept a black vehicle at the middle of the red light; before this, the driver starts to remove the criminals from the car, colliding with the back of the van in front of him.
The criminals then cross the road and get into a Chevrolet Spark vehicle with license plates ZYV978, which flees in the opposite direction. In response to the video, several users mentioned the accounts of the Metropolitan Police and Mayor Claudia López as a sign of rejection of the robbery; and within minutes, the subjects were hit and captured.
The Police themselves announced on their Twitter account that the gray car where the robbers escaped was pursued by a patrol that at 68th Avenue and 17th Street managed to intercept it. In addition, in the triune the institution thanked the community for the support of the community that publicized the case on social networks.
“Thanks to the solidarity of the citizens who recorded the criminal act of some subjects in Usaquén, our uniformed personnel manage to intercept the vehicle involved,” the Police said in the publication where they also attached a photo taken to a security camera.
For his part, the capital's Mobility Secretary, Aníbal Fernández de Soto, confirmed that the alleged criminals were caught in the town of Puente Aranda.
“The capture of these criminals was carried out thanks to the effective work of the Police. This is a clear example of how united, and citizens with their information, their denunciation and thanks to technology have managed to capture that they will be prosecuted to answer for the crimes they committed,” he said.
Also, Mayor Claudia López welcomed the timely reaction of the uniformed and also through a triune and added that the subjects arrested in flagrante are already in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office to prosecute them.
