This Thursday, April 21, there was a complaint involving the Mundo Aventura amusement park, which would have denied entry to some street residents who had their respective ballots. These people were going to enter the compound as part of their re-socialization process that they are carrying out with the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the Secretariat of Integration.

The situation became known because the CM& journalist Karen Bohórquez published on her social networks the rejection that street residents experienced and classified it as “discrimination” by the amusement park.

“Mundo Aventura discriminated by denying entry to street citizens who were accompanied by the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the Secretariat of Integration as part of their resocialization process,” the journalist wrote on Twitter. In turn, he added that the entity forgot, “that they are human beings who deserve respect. How do we want society to improve?”

Bohórquez shared the testimony of one of the street dwellers affected by the situation. “A month and a half ago they had us guests at Mundo Aventura Park, we were very excited, but they didn't let us in because we are street dwellers,” explained Patricia Calvo Vega, who was denied entry. The woman also stated that she found the entity's decision unfair, “knowing that we are equal people as all those who enter there. We've never had fun like that,” he added.

For the time being, the reasons for refusing these people to enter the place are unknown and the park has not yet commented on this matter. However, the Kennedy Mayor's Office issued a statement explaining the situation and the reason behind the discrimination that the journalist denounced.

The entity stated that the visit of street residents had been rescheduled for May. “In April, the month of childhood, Corparques from its area of social management gave priority to programming for children and adolescents from vulnerable communities to enter,” the document reads.

At the same time, it reiterated its commitment to the inclusion of the population in vulnerable conditions, as nearly 10,000 people have benefited in the locality through its programs.

Four street dwellers run over in Medellin

On March 30, there was a case in which a drunk driver ran over four street residents in Medellín. The main version of the incident points to the fact that the person responsible for the incident was mobilizing in the middle of the rain and lost control. The vehicle ended up impacting these people while they were sleeping in a garden that separates the two lanes of the track.

According to the commander of the Medellín Transito, Luis Fernando Vanegas, one of the victims died at the scene of the events and, although he has not been fully identified, he would be a man between 35 and 40 years old. The other three people were referred to hospitals for care, although one of them is in serious health as a result of the impact.

The official also confirmed that the man involved in the incident tested positive for breathalyzer; however, he could not be caught because he was not caught in flagrante. “It is important to note that this driver already had contraventional sanctions that are made from mobility and with evidence from the Judicial Police and the Ministry of Mobility they are available to the Office of the Prosecutor for all the investigation and the corresponding sanctions.”
