The Star+ series is heading towards its definitive end and it never ceases to surprise. The actress who plays Rebecca Pearson stood out with a great performance. Attention: this note contains spoilers

A new union enlarged the Pearson clan: the marriage between Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Phillip (Chris Geere). The group reconvened. Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kate's brothers, arrived with their extended families. And also could not miss Rebecca (Mandy Moore), the mother of the Big Three, who — as revealed several episodes ago — suffers from Alzheimer's.

The confusions caused by his illness are becoming increasingly present and the thirteenth episode of the sixth season, “The Day of the Wedding”, which just aired, is perhaps a hinge that articulates what remains of This Is Us, which will end after the airing of five more episodes.

This is how Rebecca gives the fans of this series one of her best moments. In the middle of the roller coaster of emotions that his illness causes him to go through, he mistakes his son Kevin with the great love of his life, Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) who died when both children were teenagers after the aftermath of the fire in his house. Faced with everyone's bewilderment, including her current husband Miguel (Jon Huertas), the wedding continues until the peak of the episode.

Everyone knows her singing talent and how this passion ended up being just a hobby when she became the mother of the triplets. But from time to time we have seen her enjoy her own voice and her performance (in fact Mandy Moore combined her acting career with that of a singer). This is how she is summoned by her son Randall to sing at Kate's wedding.

Her fears and confusions take a back seat when Rebecca starts singing. But he doesn't pick any song. The production chose for this scene the song that is the central musical curtain of This Is Us, which had never been performed with lyrics, and only the instrumental was known. This is the song “The Forever Now” written by Siddhartha Khosla and Taylor Goldsmith.

Tears soon erupted and the parallel with the past (as This Is Us has used to us), with Rebecca and Jack parents of young children, work perfectly. While in the past Rebecca needs to reconnect with her as a woman away from her duties as a mother and sings a song at a romantic dinner before the always enchanted gaze of her beloved Jack, in the future — her current present — music is once again her lifeline to connect with reality even for a few moments.

This Is Us, created by Dan Fogelman, managed to connect us with those feelings covered by overwhelming routines and moments full of daily pressure. It was (we talked in the past because we are already saying goodbye) at times a balm and on the other a dagger, because it didn't stop if it had to make us cry with anguish. It allowed to exorcise many of the traumas, fears and unresolved situations of each of the spectators. She was encouraged to go through that door and was embraced by each of her faithful followers.

There are already five episodes left for this story to be definitively closed, and they will be broadcast from April 27 onwards on a weekly basis. Their names have already been released: “The NightBe4 the Wedding”, “Miguel”, “Family Meeting”, “The Train”, “Us: End of the Series”. Prepare the tissues because you will surely need them.
