The tension continues after the reading of the Hague ruling, as the International Court of Justice emphasized that Colombia has violated international law, but has not violated the 2012 judgment, where a significant amount of nautical miles was ceded to the Central American country. Both President Iván Duque and Daniel Ortega have spoken out on this issue, although the Colombian leader assured that they would remain attentive to the issue, the Nicaraguan president made strong points against Colombia and demanded that the ruling be complied with in its entirety.
The Ortega regime is not going through a good time, because by its own leadership it has been criticized by different organizations and countries, to this issue it has not been foreign to Columbian, who criticizes which Nicaraguan model, moreover, these relations have reached their limit after the ruling issued by the International Court of Justice in The Hague, having in said that the reclamation of land and the annoyance of armed incursions, had been present in the midst of the mandates.
In this regard, Ortega called for respect for peace and demanded that the government of Iván Duque respect the ruling established from Holland on the subject, Ortega explained: “On behalf of our people, we demand them, we demand that they abide by the ruling, that they step aside, respect for international law and respect for peace, we are sure that the people of Colombia who are a fraternal people just like the American people, as any European peoples.” .
Daniel Ortega Saavedra's policies have been the focus of attention in the region, as they criticize his censorship and manipulation against the population, due to his extension of power. However, the Nicaraguan politician has shown that his position is neutral, Ortega said: “We have nothing against any of the peoples, we have a system, we have a government that has attitudes where the law is respected.”
However, the situation did not remain only in the ruling, because the Central American politician touched on other substantive issues and made strong statements against Iván Duque and his government, as he questioned Colombian democracy and assured that the bases of the State allegedly come from drug trafficking, and he also argued that the drugs have become a high export commodity for international consumption.
In his forceful criticism, the questioned leader of the Nicaraguan regime said: “This judgment handed down today by the Court, what it does is tell the authorities who have power in Colombia to abide by, is a power that they call democratic, but that we all know that it is a power that has its bases in drug trafficking, that is why it is known what Colombia has become.”
Likewise, Ortega Saavedra pointed out that human rights continue to be violated in Colombia, noting that the country suffers daily from the harshness of violence, since murders are converted almost daily, on the subject he said: “all the measures that have been imposed in that country, which have entered that country as the bases Americans, there are thousands and thousands of dead, killed every day, there in Colombia they murder, teachers, journalists, social leaders and so on.”
