Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, who has not played since February 26 due to a muscle injury in a twin, is ready to reappear two months later against Barcelona, which Rayo will face this Sunday at Camp Nou.

Falcao entered the last league call against Espanyol, although the idea that his coach, Andoni Iraola, had was that he should not participate except in the case of maximum need for the result, something that was not necessary due to the victory of his team.

The goal was for him to return to the dynamics of the group after two months away and his reappearance could occur at Camp Nou against Barcelona, which he has scored in four of his five matches, the last one on October 27, 2021, when his goal gave Rayo the victory.

The muscular injury suffered by the Colombian has not allowed him to enjoy continuity in 2022, in which he missed the historic second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals against Betis and the last seven league matches against Cadiz, Seville, Atlético de Madrid, Granada, Valencia, Alaves and Espanyol.

The recovery of Falcao is good news for Andoni Iraola, who with the Colombian recovers important cash and guarantees for his attack, a demarcation for which Sergi Guardiola remained the only reference at this time. Falcao has played 20 official matches this season with Rayo, eight as the starter, and scored five goals in 769 minutes of play.

This Thursday, April 21, Rayo Vallecano returned to victory after 13 dates without knowing the triumph in the 2021/22 season of La Liga Santander. The three points of the Vallecas team coincided precisely with the return of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao García to the bench at the disposal of coach Andoni Iraola.

Although El Tigre de Santa Marta did not play a single minute in the match against RCD Espanyol as a visitor, his presence boded well after seeing the irregular performance of the Madrid squad so far in 2022.

It should be noted that Rayo's last victory in the current Santander League had been on December 18, 2021 in home condition against Deportivo Alavé s, the last in the table at the moment. After those three points, the Rayistas had managed to qualify for the Copa del Rey semifinal, but suffered elimination against Real Betis Balompié on March 3.

Those four points, added to today's three points against Espanyol, were enough to prevent Rayo Vallecano from approaching the relegation positions, as the 18th place in the relegation is held by Granada by Carlos Bacca, Luis Javier Suárez and Santiago Arias with 30 points and a goal difference of -20, compared to the current 37 points and -5 in goal unlike the Vallecas team.
