The Peruvian national team is close to a new world championship and only has to overcome the repechage next June. However, in minors, the results are not as positive at the international level and this is something of concern in recent years. Now there are more young people abroad with the option of defending Peru for their dual nationality and one of them is Quembol Guadalupe, who was recently the sparring of the 'white-red' and today trains with the United States.
Mikey Varas, coach of the US U20 national team, summoned him on April 20 to train, have him closer and watch his football with other youth players. The defender, who is the nephew of Luis' Cuto 'Guadalupe and cousin of' Foquita 'Jefferson Farfan, had already made his debut at Orlando City B in the MLS Next Pro on April 10 and his good performances have led him to be taken into account.
“I have not received any calls or queries for the Peruvian U20. I cannot close the door to the United States national team or be hopeful for a team that has no interest in me. It is a pride for my family and I to receive the call of the United States U20 team. My goal is out there,” the professional player commented in a recent interview with DirecTV Sports.
This year he signed his first professional contract in the Central American country and it is one of the best projects of the former Yoshimar Yotún team. His football growth is positive and it is very likely that in the coming months he will be making his debut in the first division of the United States.
ITS GAME FEATURES AND RELATIONSHIP WITH GALLESE
In a recent interview, Quembol Guadalupe talked about his game and the relationship he has with Pedro Gallese, an aquero of the Peruvian national team who plays for Orlando City's first team.
“I consider myself a central player who contributes a lot to the attacking team. A defender that has a lot of projection, game output, long passes; I have depth, line break, good crosses, fast, strong, aerial game. I consider myself a very aggressive central. Pedro (Gallese) is definitely a great help for me back in Orlando since I arrived, to join the group, to the pre-season of the first team, which is a fundamental part,” he said.
HE HAS ALREADY PLAYED IN THE LOWER CATEGORIES OF PERU
In 2019, he was part of the Peruvian U15 national team and started in matches against Uruguay and other friendlies. Since then he was constantly summoned for some microcycles moving up the category as the years went by.
In addition, he was part of the sparrings of the Peruvian national team in the last friendlies prior to the penultimate double date of the South American Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022. He, along with David Mejia, John Cortez and Diego Otoya, were the players with two nationalities who trained in the Videna alongside the senior team in January and were occasionally observed by coach Ricardo Gareca.
