Gerardo Fernández Noroña, the controversial deputy of the Labour Party (PT), responded to criticism by the academic of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Diego Valadés Ríos, for the Traitor to the Fatherland campaign against the legislators who voted against the Electricity Reform.
Through his official Twitter account, the legislator called the member of the UNAM Institute of Legal Research a “hypocrite and phony”, for omitting his past close to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and allegedly appearing to be a militant of the National Action Party (PAN).
He also pointed out that the campaign is not being intrusive with the identity of the opposition legislators, because the vote on Sunday, April 17 is public, since there is no secrecy within the Congress of the Union during the votes.
“He's a hypocrite and a phony @dvalades. It is a shameful paniaguado, which despite its PRI origin celebrates the auction of the homeland. On top of that, he thinks they should do it with absolute impunity. That is why the vote of legislators is public”
However, he did not end there with his criticism, saying that, after casting the vote in any of the discussions held in Saint Lazarus, popularly elected people must take responsibility for their decisions.
Finally, he pointed out that he will continue to name them as “traitors”, even though academics, such as Valadés, defend them from alleged public criticism, so he invited his followers to draw the conclusion of who the lawyer is as a person.
And the fact is that the words of the petista were in response to the interview that the former Attorney General of the Republic gave (from January to May 1994) to Carmen Aristegui, in which he assured that the campaign launched by the National Regeneration Movement is not only inscribed on the political aspect, but borders on “incitement to hatred”.
Valadés Ríos was also concerned, saying that the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States (CPEUM) is going through “one of the most difficult times”, because there are constantly events that allegedly put the rule of law in crisis.
This is not the first time he has faced a former collaborator of the six-year term of Carlos Salinas de Gortari, since last Wednesday, April 20, he responded to Ignacio Morales Lechuga, whom he accused of having feelings of betrayal of the homeland.
Through his verified Twitter account, the petista also accused the former rector of the Free Law School (ELD) of betraying the historical ideals of the PRI and looking more like a picture of National Action, for which he thanked him for demonstrating “his frank thoughts” of an alleged betrayal of the homeland.
He also explained that, despite his reluctance, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) managed to grant 40% of the national budget; however, he acknowledged that it currently gives 19%, more than, he said, any private company, so he stressed the importance of continuing to belong to the State.
