DENVER, CO - APRIL 21: Facundo Campazzo #7 of the Denver Nuggets looks on before the game against the Golden State Warriors during Round 1 Game 3 of the 2022 NBA Playoffs on April 21, 2022 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. One thing I know is that Facu is going to come out and make someone feel it... If I'm going down, I'm going down fighting. I'm going with guys who can fight and leave everything there. I don't want to sink and regret not trying where we should try. So the non-negotiable thing is to play hard, compete, be aggressive and be disciplined. Do it or fail, but if you bring that to the game, then you are contributing positively,” said Michael Malone, coach of the Denver Nuggets, in the run-up to Game 3 of the NBA playoffs against the Golden State Warriors.

These words meant that Campazzo was going to have the minutes he longed for in the series before those of Steve Kerr; however, none of this happened. The Cordovan was only on the field for a short 4 minutes and his team fell by 118 to 113, being 3-0 down and on the verge of being eliminated by a sweep.

The coach bet on the man of the Argentine national team to replace Ja Green at the start of the second quarter (he had previously entered a few seconds at the end of the first quarter). During that short time he was on the track, 7 closed his roll at zero and with a loss, but managed to control Jordan Poole and then Stephen Curry. However, a partial of 11-4 against, leaving the 60-49 match prompted his departure.

This action by Malone was similar to that of Game 2, when in the previous one he stated that “it is a possibility to use a player who hasn't had many minutes in the series. Maybe someone can be the fuse to change.” In that duel the Cordoba only participated in 6 minutes (2 rebounds and 1 assist) and lost without mitigation by 126 to 106. It is worth remembering that the first duel was lost as a result of a suspension.

Of Denver's last 22 games, Campazzo did not play in 12. When the remaining ten he entered the field, he only added more than six minutes on the court in two of them (18:18 against Sacramento Kings and 8:39 against the Los Angeles Lakers). Taking into account those he entered for the 'junk minutes', he accumulated a total of minutes similar to those he accumulated in a match when he was the first substitute. In the consideration of the coach today he is behind players such as Will Barton, Monté Morris, Austin Rivers, Bryn Forbes or Nah'Shon Hyland.

Golden State's goal was mostly divided into three outside players: Stephen Curry (started as a substitute, but contributed 27 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds), young Jordan Poole (23-3-3) and Klay Thopson (21-1-1). As is already a custom, Nikola Jokic was the main architect for the Colorado team to be in the match until the end. The Serbian giant closed its roll with 37 units, 5 passes and 18 rebounds.

Both casts will meet again this Sunday, from 16.30 (Argentina time) at the Ball Arena. If the San Franciscos win, they will sweep their first round series in the Western Conference and wait in the next instance for the winner of the cross between Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves (yesterday the Tennessee ones were ahead 2-1). If those of Malone manage to discount, the series will move back to the Chase Center (Wednesday 27, at 23).
