In Caquetá, a woman is torn between life and death after the beating of her romantic partner

A woman finds herself with a reserved prognosis in a hospital in Florencia (Caquetá), in southern Colombia, after she was the victim of a brutal beating by her partner last Monday, April 18.

The Attorney General's Office reported that the incident occurred in the Nueva Colombia neighborhood, in the home where the victim resided with her alleged aggressor, who was identified by the authorities as Germán Silva Rodríguez.

“Neighbors managed to hear their cries for help, so they notified the authorities whom the insured person wanted to deceive by giving them several versions and incorrect information and thus preventing them from entering the residence,” they indicated in the Prosecutor's Office.

Once they managed to enter the house, they found the woman unconscious on the ground with serious injuries. Faced with the situation, she was transferred to a hospital in the city where she is in an intensive care unit.

“According to the medical opinion, she suffered multiple injuries to the skull, chest, abdomen, as well as multiple lacerations. He allegedly attacked her with a blunt object to her head and face. It caused a fracture in the upper jaw,” said the director of the Prosecutor's Office in Caquetá.

According to testimonies from the victim's children, she had been suffering violence from the 50-year-old man for quite some time, so she was looking for ways to separate from her attacker.

After this new aggression, for which the woman is on the verge of death, the man was captured in flagrante and sent to prison.

“It was achieved, through a dispatch of the Domestic Violence Unit, that he was sent to El Cunduy prison in Florencia (Caquetá). For these acts, he was charged with the crimes of attempted aggravated femicide, which he did not accept,” said prosecutor Peñuela.

The investigating agency also indicated that, apparently, the man intended to make it appear what happened by another person.

“Apparently I wanted to flee the scene, and then return and make the act look like an isolated attack perpetrated by a third party,” he added.

In the prosecution, they indicated that in addition to the testimony of the children, they also had that of a taxi driver who transported the victim to his home, who indicated that the woman was crying and lamenting over the ill-treatment situation of which she was the victim. They even have a video showing the man's siege against his partner.

And it is that gender-based violence does not seem to cease in that area of the country. Last week, the death of a teacher who was killed with a knife in the El Triunfo neighborhood of Florence was reported. For this crime, his romantic partner is pointed out.

Caracol Radio reported that the woman was identified as Katherine Urquina Paredes, 30 years old, who was working as a teacher in that town and her femicide would have occurred on Sunday, April 10.

After the crime, the accused, who the authorities indicated responded to the name of Rafael Antonio Córdoba, attempted suicide by launching himself from the vehicular bridge that leads to Neiva (Huila). However, the alleged murderer suffered only a few injuries in his fall, so he was transferred to a hospital in Florence.
