The Attorney General's Office (FGR) was linked to the trial against Leobardo Reyes Hernández, who would serve as expert services coordinator of the Coahuila Prosecutor's Office, as he is held responsible for the acts of torture cover-up that led to the murder of journalist Juan Espinoza Menera.
According to the official report, the former official was charged with the crimes of issuing false expert reports, altering documents and concealing evidence in the crime committed on the night of August 21, 2020.
The FGR investigations confirmed that the journalist was tortured and killed by police from Piedras Negras, in actions directly linked to his work in the press.
