In a morning press conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that if requested by the authorities in Nuevo Leon or by the family, the federal government is ready to take over the investigations in the case of Debanhi Escobar. In addition, the president regretted the fact and sent his condolences to the young woman's relatives.

“Although it is up to the state government, which is already dealing with it, we are expressing our desire that what happened be clarified and without bringing forward trials, to assist in the investigation if requested by the government of Nuevo León. It is important that consideration be given to attracting the case, if relatives consider it so that there is no doubt,” he said from Veracruz.

On the night of Thursday, April 22, the entity's prosecutor's office reported that a body was found and rescued from a cistern during the search work for the unlocated young woman. Even with the lack of official confirmation, Debanhi's father, Mario Escobar, indicated that it is his daughter. Ricardo Mejia, Undersecretary of Public Security, reported that a crucifix and clothes match those worn by the young woman before her disappearance.
