Even the military is not spared insecurity in Bogotá: they stole a soldier's rifle

Apparently the criminals had everything figured out, since they pretended to ask for help so that the uniformed man would approach in order to steal it. In the same locality, a policeman also had his gun taken away.

The events occurred in the Quinta Paredes neighborhood, in the town of Teusaquillo, according to preliminary investigations, soldiers were carrying out motorcycle patrolling; during the tour criminals run over the uniformed men and while they got up, a subject takes the rifle that had stayed on the ground and ran away.

The 13th Brigade of the National Army issued a statement stating that the facts are the subject of investigation,

they add that they are working together with the Police.

After the event, the authorities deployed an operation in the Santa Fe neighborhood, where the rifle would allegedly be hidden, in some residence or brothel in the sector, therefore, they cordoned off the sector in order to make a security filter so that no one would enter or leave the tolerance zone.

In fact, the weapon remains unfound, but this is not the only problem, the soldier who is seen lamenting the theft to tears, in a video broadcast on social networks; he will also face a disciplinary sanction, in addition, he will be subject to an internal investigation, which will determine his guilt for the charge of loss of armament of the Colombian Armed Forces, diligence required by the Military Penal Code.

In fact, he was not the only law enforcement officer who was affected by the theft of his equipment weapon. A patrolman of the National Police, attached to the special services section, arrived in Bogotá to stay in a hotel, also in Teusaquillo. There, he applied for a prostitution service. Once the incident was finished, the woman noticed that the uniformed man fell asleep, a moment she took advantage of stealing 400,000 pesos, a pistol, three suppliers and more than 40 rounds of ammunition.

The National Police is conducting investigations to capture the woman and recover the pistol, which is an institutional firearm. The authorities ask the person responsible for these events to surrender and return the belongings.

Figures from the Ministry of Security, Coexistence and Justice show that so far this year in Bogotá some 29,000 robberies have been reported, in fact, six high-impact crimes increased their rates, compared to those of the previous year.

People theft is the most recurrent modality in the capital, with more than 23,000 cases reported, an increase of 16.8%, compared to the period between January and March last year. Motorcycle theft is the other most common mode, with about 1,203 facts.

Another figure that worries the authorities is the theft of cell phones, as there have been 14,609 cases so far this year. The district administration even has a map that sectorizes the crimes that are committed in Bogotá.

In this distribution, the secretariat found that, in 17 of the 19 localities of the capital, the theft of persons increased, with Chapinero being the one in which the numbers grew the most. But, Kennedy, that's where the city records the most cases. Suba and Engativa follows her. In contrast, only in Ciudad Bolivar and San Cristobal did the numbers fall.
