Former Chavista General Hugo “El Pollo” Carvajal — an alleged member of the Cartel de los Soles — will receive a unique visit in the coming hours: the legal team of left-wing candidate Gustavo Petro will attend the stage where he will give testimony regarding Venezuela's funding for political campaigns in America Latin.
The information, confirmed by the newspaper EL TIEMPO, indicates that the senator and current candidate — who asked the Supreme Court of Justice to open an investigation against Carvajal — will not be present at the National High Court in Madrid (Spain) but his lawyer, Cristina Lombana, who will hear the version of the former general chavista about this type of financing.
According to “El Pollo”, the Chavista regime not only financed left-wing politicians from this part of the continent but also other prominent figures on a global scale, such as the Five Star Movement (Italy), or the Podemos party (Spain).
In INFOBAE COLOMBIA we review the capture of the former Chavista general and how he requested to provide a version of the alleged link between the former FARC guerrillas and the ETA movement in Spain.
It should be noted that the American justice system has been responsible for discovering Carvajal's links with members of the extinct FARC. Even Luciano Marín Arango, alias Ivan Márquez, and Seauxis Pauchis Hernandez Solarte, alias Jesús Santrich, share with the former general an allegation of charges issued by the court of the Southern District of New York.

“While I was Venezuela's director of Military Intelligence and Counterintelligence, I received a large number of reports stating that this international funding was happening. Concrete examples are: Néstor Kirchner in Argentina, Evo Morales in Bolivia, Lula Da Silva in Brazil, Fernando Lugo in Paraguay, Ollanta Humala in Peru, Zelaya in Honduras, Gustavo Petro in Colombia, Five Stars Movement in Italy and Podemos in Spain. All these were reported as recipients of money sent by the Venezuelan Government,” said the accused in a version handed over to the Spanish justice system and reproduced by EL TIEMPO.
Lombana will not only listen to what Carvajal contributes, but expects to hear first-hand evidence of his statements in order to support, if necessary, the application made by the candidate to the CSJ.
How was the capture of Hugo “El Pollo” Carvajal
The arrest took place at 21:15 local time in Torrelaguna street in the capital by members of the Fugitives Group 2 of the National Police, in collaboration with agents of the American DEA, an agency that had informed the Spanish Police on June 17 that the chavista was hiding in a apartment in Madrid after having cosmetic surgery and camouflaging themselves with wigs and costumes.
In the DEA brief, it is stated that Carvajal Barrios was “living in the city of Madrid in an apartment in the Arturo Soria area” and was living with the Venezuelan citizen Astrid Carolina Viloria Palacio.
Then, the DEA text addressed to the Spanish Police states: “We inform you of other details that could be useful in locating and arresting this fugitive: Viloria Palacios's apartment is on the third or fourth floor of a building in the area. The terrace of the apartment has many plants that Carvajal Barrios uses to obfuscate his face when he goes out to use it.”
