On the morning of Friday, April 22, the current MLS Supporters' Shield champion in the United States made the signing of Colombian midfielder Dylan Borrero official.

This is New England Revolution, a North American club that showed its interest in Borrero after seeing him play for Brasileirão as a promising player for Atlético Mineiro and which now won 80% of the pass and services of the vallecaucano athlete until December 31, 2024.

The Palmira-born footballer made his debut with Independiente Santa Fe at age 17 in July 2019 and became internationally known after on January 14, 2020 (at 18 years and 9 days old) he became the youngest foreign player to sign for the Atlético Mineiro club.

According to the transfer portal Transfermarkt, the amount of the transaction for which Borrero left the Belo Horizonte club to Foxborough, Massachusetts, is equivalent to 3.64 million euros, approximately 4.5 million dollars.

Since Borrero made his professional debut for the Independiente Santa Fe squad in the 2019 season of the Colombian league, he played 10 national matches and scored no goals.

However, his deployment took place at Atlético Mineiro, where he played 28 times and in which he attended five times and scored two goals for Brasileirão 2021: the first against América Mineiro on July 20 in his team's 0-1 victory, and the second on October 6 in the 2-2 draw against Chapecoense.

This was the welcome of New England Revolution to the Colombian promise and current three-time champion of the Mineiro A1 Series Championship (2020, 2021 and 2022), as well as Brasileirão 2021, Brazil Cup 2021 and Brazil Super Cup 2022:

At just 20 years old, the Palmirano player arrives at the club of the North American Eastern Conference and will be the only Colombian in the squad of coach Bruce Arena, who today occupies the eleventh place in the standings on seven games played with only seven points added in two wins and a draw.

With four recent defeats, this is how the Massachusetts franchise will face FC Cincinnati on May 11 for the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup 2022:

Dylan signed a three-year contract with the MLS with the option to renew with the club for another year, while pending his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

With 20% of its sporting rights owned by Atlético Mineiro, Borrero is New England's first acquisition under Major League Soccer's U22 Initiative, aimed at promoting greater investment in young players.

Dylan Borrero is a young attacker who we have followed closely over the past year. His technical ability and rhythm are assets that will complement our attack. We are excited to welcome you to New England Revolution,” were the words of head coach Bruce Arena, referring to the new signing of the team's promise.

On the international stage, Borrero accumulated seven appearances at the U17, U-18 and U-20 levels for the Colombia national team, in which he managed to score three goals. On the other hand, he scored his first international goal against Brazil at the 2019 South American U-17 Championship. Most recently, the midfielder recorded a double at the U-20 level in an international friendly against Ecuador in December 2020.

Meanwhile, New England Revolution will resume the 2022 MLS campaign this Saturday, April 23, visiting DC United at Audi Field.
