Valentín Elizalde died on November 25, 2006, leaving a great void in the music of the Mexican regional and in the lives of his family as well as other loved ones. The death of the Golden Rooster was caused by a brutal attack on his truck as he was returning from a presentation.
Recently, a Twitter user shared that she found for sale a peculiar piece related to the death of this popular singer. “Noooo! look what I saw in a stroller shop in Querétaro,” wrote Internet user @CigarrosDeMiel.
In the photograph, the young woman showed a toy van that pretends to be the last vehicle the singer got on, as it has the holes produced by the bullets and is black, just like the Suburban in which Valentín Elizalde was attacked.
The package with the toy is a customization or adaptation made by some collector as a commemoration, since it even has the face of Valentín Elizalde and the years of his birth and death, that is, 1979-2006.
In the picture you can see that under that toy car there is an edition of the car of the comedian Mr Bean. The discovery of user @CigarrosDeMiel went viral because she had more than 5 thousand “likes” within this social network.
Another netizen pointed out that the replica of the van belonged to the collector Collectibles GT, according to the Instagram account of this store, its location is in the state of Querétaro.
The fatal attack on Valentín Elizalde and his team
The singer's vehicle was intercepted as it passed near the Palenque de Reynosa in Tamaulipas. After nearly 60 shots, Valentín Elizalde, Mario Mendoza and the driver, Reynaldo Ballesteros saw their last night in the early morning of November 25.
On the day of the attack aboard the black Suburban van there were four people in addition to Valentín Elizalde: Mario Mendoza Grajeda, the singer's representative; Fausto “Tano” Elizalde, his cousin and Reynaldo Ballesteros, the driver.
According to the versions that have been circulated as well as his own statements, Valentín's cousin got out of the van and ran away in a taxi that was passing by.
On the other hand, there are people who say that the cousin of the “Golden Rooster” would have betrayed him: “Well, that day Tano was very nervous, extremely nervous,” Marisol declared in the interview for Ventaneando in May 2020, “I didn't want to go, many times he told me he didn't want to go.”
At various times, Tano Elizalde had stated that, according to his perception, Mario, Valentín Elizalde's representative, could have been responsible for the singer's death, since he apparently selected the date of the event they were leaving when they were intercepted by an armed command.
But in reality, Mario was never able to react to Tano's accusations since he was traveling with Valentín in the van; a vehicle that now has its own replica.
The only survivor of this attack was cousin Tano, who was supposedly lying in the van because he felt ill, and it turned out that bullets directed at the vehicle did not fatally hit Valentín's cousin. The version given by Tano is that, after the commando who attacked the van left the scene, he had the opportunity to leave and take a taxi to leave the scene.
