The patrolman of the National Police was the victim of a firearm attack last Monday, April 18

In the last few hours, health professionals at the Camino Adelita de Char hospital confirmed the death of the injured policeman in the middle of a hit attack in Barranquilla.

This is Naudin Córdoba Mena, a 42-year-old patrolman of the National Police who was seriously injured after being attacked with a firearm.

The events were recorded last Monday, April 18, when the uniformed man was riding a motorcycle on the Caribe Verde Boulevard, located in the southwest of Barranquilla. Although the motorcycle on which he was transported was particular, the patrolman wore the uniform of the National Police.

According to the authorities, men who were also mobilizing on motorcycles, without a word opened fire on patrol car Naudin Córdoba Mena, leaving him seriously injured. The policeman was taken to the Camino Adelita hospital in Char where he remained in intensive care these days.

Faced with this regrettable event, the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla (Mebar), together with the Mayor's Office and the Government of the Atlantic, offered a reward of up to 50 million pesos for information that would allow the identification, location and capture of those responsible for this event.

In addition, the Police issued a statement in which it regretted the death of the official. “A father, a brother, a hero has departed. We permanently accompany his wife, his two children, his father and other relatives in this pain that not only seizes a family, but also strikes the entire institution,” says the document.

It should be noted that the authorities are already carrying out the respective investigations to establish the motives for the crime. Although until now it is not ruled out that the hit attack occurred because Naudin Córdoba was a policeman, since at the time of the events he was wearing the uniform, his wife assured that the patrolman had no problems with anyone and had not received threats or anything like that.

Naudin Córdoba Mena, a native of Chocó, had been serving in the National Police for more than 17 years, an institution that highlighted his work. Likewise, he was the father of two girls, one three years old and the other 13 years old.

The Mebar also assured that it will not rest until it clarifies that fact that mourns the institution.

“Today the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla loses one of its children, but it gains the solidarity of a city that does not give up crime, so we will not rest until we clarify this fact and we have all the human and technological resources of the institution for the development of research,” said the authority.
