The absence of Javier Hernández in the Mexican National Team continues to give us something to talk about. This time it was Sevilla's winger, Jesús Tecatito Corona who spoke out about it and assured that an element like ExChivas is not left over in any team. Chicharito is the Tri's record top scorer and has participated in three World Cups.
“Obviously a player like him, who is very good, we would like to have him because he is the top scorer of the national team, he has a lot of experience, he is a good person. But whether to call it or not is not our business. That we respect him? Yes, a lot, but it doesn't belong to us,” Corona said in an interview with TUDN.
Hernández has been erased from the national team for more than two years. His last call with Gerardo Martino's ensemble was in September 2019. The reasons for his absence are not entirely clear, but in the tricolor environment it is handled that it is due to attitudes taken by the striker during his stay with the team.
With the Qatar 2022 World Cup on the way, questions and doubts arise as to who will make up the list of players who will attend. One of them, regarding Hernandez since his good performance in the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer in the United States, has made analysts and experts wonder about the justifications of not having a striker of his abilities in the Tri.
Chicharito has been a regular footballer on the world cup teams in Mexico. His first presentation was in South Africa 2010 where he stood out as one of the figures in the ensemble. The second in Brazil 2014 and the most recent in Russia 2018. In every edition he has managed to score at least one goal (France, Argentina, Croatia and South Korea are the rivals he scored).
At 33 years of age, Hernández has said on more than one occasion about his openness and intention to wear the Mexican coat again. The footballer has stated that as long as the possibility exists, he will continue to bid for national team.
“Like every eligible player, I will try to do it in the best possible way in my club, in my institution, as my father and grandfather always taught me. So I'm going to keep doing it in the best way. I'm going to keep working. My head is 100% on this project. Obviously if any calls come, welcome. If I didn't want to be in the national team, I would have retired,” he said.
The Mexican National Team is assured of at least nine matches before traveling to Qatar for the World Cup. With Guatemala as the first rival, on April 27 the tricolor activity begins in the face of the world cup fair. Among the opponents he will face, there are also Nigeria, Uruguay, Ecuador and Paraguay for friendly commitments.
Then, for Group A duels in the Concacaf Nations League, Mexico will clash with Jamaica and Suriname twice. If they qualify, they would be on the way to the semifinal and final of the tournament, but these instances are scheduled to be played until 2023.
