Thanks to the offensive presence of Cartagena striker Diego Valoyes, Talleres de Córdoba won his second victory of the season, nothing less than against River Plate on Wednesday night, April 20.
Valoyes had given his first three points to Talleres on March 23 in his club's 2-1 win against Godoy Cruz in local condition and this Wednesday he returned to play the only goal of the victory against the millionaire team at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, without the presence of the Antioquian midfielder, Juan Fernando Quintero.
With an alternative payroll to preserve the physical condition of its initialists, River was unable to impose conditions and accumulated its third defeat of the season, losing points away from the undefeated leader, Racing Club de Avellaneda.
The only goal of the night came in the 53rd minute through the former La Equidad player, who was perfectly placed to capitalize on two aerial balls inside the River area that the defenders of the Buenos Aires club could not stop.
Federico Girotti started the play on the left side and in the farthest header right back Gastón Benavidez put a ball in the void to Valoyes, who in an acrobatic maneuver changed the fate of the ball inside the box without dropping it until celebrating 1-0 of the night as follows:
The 25-year-old Bolivian attacker who was called up in the final phase of the South American qualifiers for Colombia by Reinaldo Rueda Rivera recorded his third goal of the year after will make the club Güemes in the thirty-second finals of the 2022 Copa Argentina on March 16 and Godoy Cruz on the 7th date of the Copa de la Professional League on March 22.
This goal by Valoyes meant the second victory for Talleres in the Argentine first division tournament and allowed him to get out of the bottom of the table, as he was fourteenth in zone 1 with 5 points and now he is eleventh with 8 units added.
Three goals for, six against and a record of four defeats, two draws and one victory are the current letter of introduction to the Cordoba squad in which, apart from Valoyes, Colombian footballers Rafael Pérez and Émerson Batalla also play.
Cartagena's central defender Rafael Pérez started during the 90 minutes of the engagement against River, despite having received a yellow card in the 16th minute of the match.
For his part, Valoyes was replaced by Matías Godoy in the 69th minute of the engagement and retired from the court as the second best player of the match after receiving a score of 7.6 out of 10 by the SofaScore portal, 0.4 points lower than the goalkeeper of the T, Guido Herrera.
Former America de Cali striker Émerson Batallara was a substitute throughout the engagement against the team led by Marcelo Gallardo.
