A video was popularized on social networks where a citizen fights with traffic agents and aggression transcends physical confrontation. According to the national media, the events would have occurred on April 19 in Tulua and everything would have happened through a road procedure.
The images show how a woman films the exact moment when she is violated by a public official, who tries by force to take some keys from them. At the moment of tension, the citizen asks the agents to identify themselves, but they do not do so and insist on taking away the keys to their motorcycle.
In addition to the images in the background, there is a voice from another woman, who was identified as the sister of the protagonist of the video, and who encourages her to throw away the keys and not hand them over to the agent.
After the event that raised many questions, RCN Radio contacted the woman who recorded the video, Natalia Restrepo; and she assured that the incident occurred as “abuse of authority” and bad procedure by the traffic police. He also added that, in addition to the confrontation between the woman and the agent, minutes earlier the uniformed man kicked his dog twice without any justification.
“I acknowledge my fault, I never avoided the apporendo. However, in the struggle, for trying to remove the keys from our motorcycle, the agent kicked my dog twice, when we see that, my sister pushed her shoulder and the officer punched my sister a fist in the mouth,” said Natalia Restrepo, sister of the woman assaulted by the agent.
For their part, the local authorities reported that the official related to the video was removed from office and for now will hold an administrative position while clarifying the situation already under investigation. It should be noted that this would not be the first complaint against the traffic officer, since his record shows that he already had a disciplinary investigation in place, which is under internal control, for repetitive actions.
At this time another related news about the aggression between a policeman and civilians became popular in Medellín, but unlike the previous one, the victim was the one informed that he was killed by a guy who shot him with a firearm.
The uniformed man who was identified as Eduard Giovany Guarín Quiroz, was attacked exactly in the 36th race with 82nd street, in the northeast of the capital of Antioquia. According to the authorities and some witnesses to the incident, the policeman was in civilian clothes and was on leave when several people on motorcycles and on foot began to attack him.
It was recorded on the security cameras when one of the assailants pulled out a firearm and shot him; the petty officer ran out, but fell a few blocks later. The police officers from the quadrant arrived at the scene and helped Guarín, who was transferred to the San Vicente Fundación Hospital; however, when he arrived he no longer had vital signs.
Colonel José Galindo, operational commander, spoke about the investigation in progress with the newspaper El Colombiano. “It is being ruled out whether it is an act of intolerance or what are the circumstances surrounding it,” said the official. He also noted that the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Police are working together and deployed all investigative capacities to “identify and capture those responsible for the murder.”
