The Attorney General's Office released an audiovisual tape of a commercial establishment that would have recorded the precise moment when Freddy Rincón decided to drive the van involved in the accident that resulted in his death on April 13.
Although it is not clear what time the video was recorded and if there was later a change of drivers in the car involved in the accident, the images show Rincón Valencia wearing a white t-shirt and parting with several people.
Next to Rincón you can see the presence of a young woman who wears shorts. They hug and he climbs into the place of the driver of the van. The women, for their part, climb into the back of the car, while a man, apparently, approaches them through the window to ask them for money, but Rincón embarks on the journey.
On the night of this Wednesday, April 20, the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, announced that the death of the former player and idol of the Colombian national team in Cali occurred while he was driving the Ford van with plates UGR 410 in the early morning of April 11.
These were Barbosa's words directly from the headquarters of the research body in Medellín:
What the investigating body had in its file on the Rincón accident was the identity of a woman, María Manuela Patiño, who was unharmed and left the scene by her own means; the testimony of another, Lorena Cortés, who claims that Rincón was driving, as well as the witnesses' version that there were at least two more people in the 2015 model van that had the Soat expired and three speeding tickets.
It should be noted that during the moment of the crash, the security cameras, located on Calle 5 with Carrera 34, near the Olympic Stadium Pascual Guerrero, captured the exact moment when the van crashed violently into the MÍO bus, exactly when the digital clock struck 4:30 a.m. on April 11 and later when two people were getting out of the van, seconds after the heavy crash, thus proceeding to take a taxi service.
In a dialogue with Noticias RCN, one of the protagonists of the rescue of the former Colombia national team player said that in his role as a paramedic he saw the former footballer sitting in the driver's seat.
The rescuer confessed that when they arrived they didn't know who the person was on board the car, until people around started saying it was Freddy. This is how they helped the former athlete:
The rescue of Rincón for his transfer to the medical center lasted approximately ten minutes, in addition, the Colossus of Buenaventura was given a neck immobilizer and a half-back board.
In addition, the testimony of the paramedic who testified before the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, shows that in the passenger seat there was a woman who was lying unconscious:
The paramedic also pointed out that when he was carrying out the rescue, he did not smell liquor in the former football player and that in the car there were no bottles or cans of intoxicating drinks. However, at the moment the Technical Investigative Body of the Prosecutor's Office is still analyzing the respective breathalyzer tests in order to give an updated opinion of the situation.
