A couple of weeks ago, the Mexican regional singer Eden Muñoz released the song Chalino, a run in homage to the late artist of the northern genre who died in an armed attack directly against him in 1992 in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Known as “El rey del corrido”, Rosalino Sánchez Félix managed to consolidate a remarkable base of followers who, after his death, placed him in a cult status, with his song Nieves de Janeiro being one of the hymns with which the one born in the same locality is most remembered, in 1960.
Now, the former vocalist of Calibre 50 wrote a song in honor of the late performer who for years has been unofficially linked to organizations of the crime, which would have been the reason for his violent death.
Although Muñoz considers Chalino a benchmark in his own musical background and claims that the music of the remembered artist has accompanied him all his life, the run he unveiled in March is not to the liking of the family of the remembered singer.
This is how Marisela Sánchez, widow of the interpreter of songs like Alma enamorada and Baraja de oro, made it known: “I have been asked a lot about that. I'm going to tell you what I feel, what I think, Regardless of me, it's a run that I see as harmful to the family,” said the woman in a video published by the channel En la jugada last April 6.
The wife of the murdered singer said that there are children and grandchildren of Chalino who are affected by the lyrics of the song, which allude to the alleged criminal ties of the deceased and the fearsome night he was executed.
“Since Chalino continues to have children, he still has grandchildren, he still has siblings, he still has a lot of family and that run definitely crossed the line of respect,” he added.
Marisela also wondered how Eden Muñoz was able to access the information he narrates in the controversial corrido, which already has more than 6 million views on YouTube, since she believes that the investigation has not been conclusive enough for the former Calibre 50 to make strong assertions on the subject of music
“It's something that has hurt the family. I don't know how much he needed or where this boy got that information, but I would like to ask him because Chalino's murder is not a cleared murder, I would like to ask him where he got that information, and he can tell us and it can help us to reopen the case,” said the widow in an interview with the channel.
This is how the lyrics of the song that has more than 120 thousand Likes on the platform say:
I want to take
with whom do i take my life
Give me a Tecate
cheers for my farewell
Don't say anything
I know what you're coming for, don't be surprised
And consider
who are going to kill a man
They are right
I would be angry too
And the rifle
if the woman were mine
Tell the old man
who have me in front of me here
And if I owe him
today I pay you with my death
By la tejana
they realized who you were
Wise is death
when it's your turn it takes you
And on a note
I looked at his signature read it
Take care of me
pa 'just like that to lose it
May 15th
I saw him take off his hat
in the Bugambilias
the snows of january were heard
There The Kind Ones
the singer no longer saw
And on the 16th Culiacán did it again
I was one of yours
And I know what it feels like
The boat is over
and also my good luck
I did corridos
but there I order mine
and excuse me
please don Emilio
Have my friend
I'm going to lend you my gun
Don't even ask me
I can't turn my back on them
Who did I say?
Because it's getting late
pa 'they presume: I killed Chalino Sánchez.
On the other hand, Marisela Sánchez said that she is already preparing an event in tribute to the life of her husband.
“We are planning a tribute, not exactly for the day of the lucky day but we are planning a tribute, God willing we will soon be giving the scoop, something very nice... especially because my husband is recognized by the entire music industry, it is nice to see how all the artists make themselves available for an event like that and to pay tribute to a person who left 30 years ago and who may not even know him, but they still pay tribute to Chalino Sánchez”, he concluded.
